The GIAL Library can serve GIAL card holders working away from
the campus by mailing articles or chapters from journals, conference
proceedings or books on the Web.
If the GIAL Library does not have the item you want, we can try
to obtain it for you through Interlibrary loan. (Local patrons should
use the First Seach ILL request form.)
To request a copy of a book chapter, conference proceeding
paper or journal article
- Send an e-mail to library_dallas@gial.edu
with "article request" in the subject line.
- Include as much bibliographic information as possible re: the
journal article (article title, author date, journal title, volume
number, issue number, pages, ISSN number if avialable) or book
chapter (chapter title, book title, editor, publisher, date, edition,
page numbers, ISBN if known).
- Include your mailing address for photocopies. Charges may include
ten cents per page for photocopying (depending on how long the
work is) and postage.
- To receive electronic files, you must obtain permission from
the publisher/copyright holder. See sample letter below.

I request your written permission to have the following
selections scanned into .tif files and emailed to me. I have need
of them for my research (name university if applicable). I reside
in (City/ Country) and lack access to these materials through a
university library. An academic library in Dallas, Texas, at the
Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics, is willing to scan and
send the materials if I provide them with written copyright permission
from you as publisher.
The pages that I request permission for GIAL Library
to scan and send are as follows:
