SWATLA Borrowers

Who is eligible?

The Southwest Area Theological Library Association (SWATLA Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement program allows students, faculty and staff from SWATLA member insititutions to borrow GIAL library materials. A SWATLA card from the borrower institution and a valid university ID are required to be eligible for a GIAL library card. SWATLA cards that do not have expiration date or authorizing signaturte will not be honored.

Loan Periods

The normal loan period for items from GIAL Library is 2 weeks. Journals are loaned for 3 days. SWATLA patrons may borrow up to 5 circulating items. Borrowers may renew items twice if there are no holds or recalls on them. Renewals may be requested by phoning (972) 708-7416 by e-mailing library_dallas@gial.edu, or in person.

Borrowers' Responsilbilities

Borrowers accept responsibility for all book or non-book materials borrowed on their GIAL card and agree to pay any applicable fines or fees for lost, damaged or overdue library materials. It is the borrowers' responsibility to notify the GIAL Library of changes in address or e-mail and to report if their GIAL card is lost or stolen.

Fines

Each item overdue is charged 25 cents/day.

Blocking Borrowing Priviledges

Borrowing priviledges may be blocked if:

  • limit is reached of allowable items borrowed
  • overdue fines are owed
  • card is expired

  • card is reported lost or stolen
