SWATLA Borrowers

Who is eligible?

The Southwest Area Theological Library Association (SWATLA) Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement program allows students, faculty and staff from SWATLA member institutions to borrow GIAL library materials. SWATLA members may use a TexShare card from the borrower institution and a valid university ID card to obtain a GIAL library card.

Loan Periods

TexShare patrons may borrow a maximum of 5 circulating items for a period of 2 weeks. Items marked as Reference, Journals, Book-Local, and some other categories are non-ciruculating. Borrowers may renew items twice if there are no holds or recalls on them. Renewals may be requested by phoning (972) 708-7416 by emailing library_dallas@gial.edu, or in person.

Borrowers' Responsibilities

Borrowers accept responsibility for all book or non-book materials borrowed on their GIAL card and agree to pay any applicable fines or fees for lost, damaged or overdue library materials. It is the borrowers' responsibility to notify the GIAL Library of changes in address or e-mail and to report if their GIAL card is lost or stolen.

Fines

Each item overdue is charged 25 cents/day.

Blocking Borrowing Privileges

Borrowing priviledges may be blocked if:

  • limit is reached of allowable items borrowed
  • overdue fines are owed
  • card is expired
  • card is reported lost or stolen
