GIAL Interlibrary Loan Services

The GIAL Library can serve patrons, including field members of SIL and partner Bible translation organizations by photocopying articles or chapters from journals, conference proceedings or books and mailing the photocopies overseas.

If the GIAL Library does not have the item you want, we can order it for you through Interlibrary loan.

ILL requests through First Search: You may now place an ILL request electronically through the FirstSearch Webcat search. Click on Get this item or Borrow this item from another library (Interlibrary loan). Fill out the contact information. For Journal articles include as much bibliographic information as possible in the Comments box(title of article, author, volume, issue, and pages).Cllick on the Submit button.

ILL requests via email: To request a copy of a book chapter, conference proceeding paper or journal article, send an e-mail to library_dallas@gial.edu with "article request" in the subject line. In the e-mail include as much bibliographic information as possible re: the journal article or book chapter (article title, author date, journal title, volume number, issue number, pages, ISSN number if available; chapter title, book title, editor, publisher, date, edition, page numbers, ISBN if known). Also, please include your mailing address. You may copy the following forms to a Word document, fill it out, and attach it to your e-mail:

GIAL Interlibrary Loan Photocopy Request

Charges may include ten cents per page for photocopying (depending on how long the work is), postage, and possibly a charge from the lending library if the item is requested via Interlibrary Loan. If a fee is involved, you will be asked to approve it prior to the fulfillment of the order.
