GIAL Distinctives

The Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics (GIAL) is located on the campus of the International Linguistics Center (ILC) in Dallas, Texas. GIAL offers year-round training, including advanced courses in Linguistics, Sociolinguistics, Literacy, Language Survey and Anthropology. Spring courses include a nine unit Literacy Megacourse for Literacy specialists. GIAL offers a certificate program in Applied Linguistics and two degree programs: Master of Arts with a major in Applied Linguistics, with optional concentrations in Bible Translation, Descriptive Linguistics, Ethnology, and Cross-Cultural Service and a Master of Arts with a major in Language Development with optional concentrations in Literacy, Sociolinguistics, Scripture Use, Language Survey and Ethnology.
