Welcome to the world of Applied Linguistics! Here at the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics (GIAL) we try to share our excitement in learning about the thousands of languages spoken in the world today. There is so much to learn about cultures and peoples, as well as the languages they speak! Most of these different languages do not even have a written form yet.

GIAL faculty bring a wide range of field experience to the classroom, in addition to their expertise acquired through advanced studies. Along with a strong academic foundation will come a practical understanding of how languages work. Our faculty will be available to discuss personal aspects of field work as well.
