GIAL considers the academic advising process an integral part of each student's
program and provides faculty advisors each bimester
to assist students in selecting courses. Core faculty members are expected
to be a part of this student advisory process.
Each bimester prior
to registration, students are required to meet individually with a faculty
academic advisor to discuss courses proposed on the pre-registration
form for the coming year in light of their total study program. The
student must make any changes necessary and the academic advisor signs
and dates the approved pre-registration form.
Students intending to complete a degree program must submit an Intended Plan of Study form no later than the last class day of the first bimester the student is enrolled as a degree student. This form is signed by the Department Head of their desired field
of study and the Dean of Academic Affairs, who keeps the form and distributes copies to the student,
the Department Head and Registrar’s Office.
A new student orientation meeting is scheduled prior to new student
registration each bimester. Check with the Dean of Students or the Registrar’s Office for up-to-date
details.
