Applied Linguistics Department
  • Responsible for administering the Certificate in Applied Linguistics program and degree programs with emphases in Bible Translation, descriptive linguistics, or cross-cultural service.
  • Basic interdisciplinary courses in phonetics, grammar, field methods & data management.
    These study programs are based on a modular concept taught in 20-week terms.

The GIAL Applied Linguistics Department offers a Certificate in Applied Linguistics and a Master of Arts with a major in Applied Linguistics.
Students enrolled in this degree program may designate a concentration in Bible Translation, Cross-Cultural Service, or Descriptive Linguistics. Graduates of this program will be qualified to serve in specialist roles in Bible Translation, Linguistics, or Cross-Cultural ministry (depending on the concentration selected). This degree consists of three components, and requires successful completion of all three:
