The unique GIAL schedule

We often receive questions from incoming students about GIAL’s modular schedule.  While most courses at GIAL are 8 weeks long, our courses can last from 4-12 weeks.  This makes for a unique modular schedule.

Each term (spring and fall) is about 5 months long and consists of 4 sessions. Each session is 4-8 weeks long.  GIAL also offers a 12 week summer term which overlaps with the last session of the spring term and the first session of the fall term.  For specific start and end dates please check the Academic Calendar.

Each regular TERM (Fall and Spring) is composed of 20 weeks and broken into three 4-week and one 8-week modules referred to as SESSIONS. The Fall term begins in July and ends in December. The Spring term begins in January and ends in June. There is also a 12-week Summer term that has limited course offerings.
