GRANTING THE CERTIFICATE IN APPLIED LINGUISTICS
GIAL will grant the Certificate in Applied Linguistics to students who successfully complete the Certificate in Applied Linguistics program at GIAL.  If a student has taken at least 15 semester hours toward the Certificate in Applied Linguistics at GIAL, he or she may petition to have recognized up to 12 semester hours of approved courses taken at other regionally accredited institutions of higher education.  These credits will be recognized as part of the Certificate in Applied Linguistics but will not be included in the GPA calculation on the GIAL transcript.

To successfully complete the Certificate in Applied Linguistics program, students must have a minimum 2.8 grade point average. This requirement applies to any Certificate in Applied Linguistics awarded after 2010.

A student may repeat one or more courses to achieve a satisfactory final grade for the requirements of the Certificate in Applied Linguistics. A student may not repeat a specific course more than once for this purpose.

The Certificate in Applied Linguistics is awarded at the end of the term in which all courses have been successfully completed or petitioned.
