Language Development Department
  • Responsible for administering the degree programs with emphases in ethnology, literacy, language survey, Scripture use or sociolinguistics.

  • Basic interdisciplinary courses in language and culture acquisition, teaching cross-culturally, social science research, and statistical methods.

These study programs are based on a modular concept taught in 20-week terms.

A Graduate Certificate in Multicultural Teamwork.

A Master of Arts degree with a major in Language Development. Graduates of this advanced program will be qualified to serve in such roles as literacy specialist, sociolinguist, language surveyer, Scripture Use specialist or anthropologist (depending on the concentration selected). Concentrations include:

This program consists of three components, and requires successful completion of all three:

  1. Undergraduate courses in the Certificate in Applied Linguistics (or their equivalent)

  2. General Core courses for the Master of Arts degree with a major in Language Development.

  3. Concentration courses required by one of the concentration options
