If you only want to take a couple courses total at GIAL (up to 9 credit hours), you may only need to fill out the gateway application. View Gateway Admission requirements for more information or contact us to speak with our admissions team.
Which application do I fill out for an online course?
When is the application fee due?
Your application fee payment should be made at or near the time you submit your application (Gateway status at GIAL does NOT require an application fee). Application fees are payable online.
When is my application due?
Applications are due 6 weeks prior to the start of your first course (this includes transcripts, references, etc.). If you miss this deadline, however, you can still submit your application up to 3 weeks before your course starts along with a late fee of $50.
Applicants interested in taking just a few courses (up to 9 credit hours) at GIAL may choose to complete the Gateway application. This streamlined application process does not require a GRE score or letters of recommendation. Just complete the few simple steps below. Gateway students who complete their 9 credit hours but wish to take more courses will need to complete the requirements for Undergraduate or Graduate admission before taking more courses at GIAL.
Then proceed through the rest of the application steps below.
An official copy of an appropriate post-high school transcript which verifies that you are qualified to participate in the intended coursework. School records should come directly to GIAL from the school itself or be in an unopened, signed and sealed envelope which you received directly from the school. Electronic transcripts sent by the school are acceptable as long as the school recognizes them as official. If using regular mail instead, schools should direct transcripts to GIAL Admissions, 7500 W Camp Wisdom Rd, Dallas, TX 75236.
- To qualify to take any undergraduate courses or up to 6 semester hours of graduate level courses at GIAL, this transcript should show at least 54 credit hours of undergraduate study with at least a 2.80 cumulative GPA.
- To qualify to take more than 6 semester hours of graduate level courses at GIAL, this transcript should show the equivalent of an earned B.A. or M.A. degree with at least a 2.80 cumulative GPA.
For non-native speakers of English, evidence of satisfactory proficiency in English must be provided. Recent TOEFL or IELTS scores are preferred. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org at GIAL for further information and direction in providing this proof.
