FAQs on Financial Aid at GIAL
How do I apply for Financial Aid?
  • Read the GIAL Financial Aid Guidelines.
  • Complete the GIAL Financial Aid Application.
When should I apply?
Send in your GIAL Financial Aid Application with your GIAL Application for Admission, or at least three (3) months before the new term starts. Even if you are in the process of meeting some of the qualifications, this makes it easier for the Financial Aid Committee to process your application in a timely fashion.

What scholarships are available?
GIAL offers two scholarships for new students (the King’s and the Townsend), as well as one for internationals.

Do I have to have a certain GPA in order to qualify?
Yes, any financial aid requires a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Do I have to be enrolled full-time or can I be a part-time student?
Preference will be given to those who are enrolled in a GIAL program, either a Certificate or Degree, but if funds are available, part-time students may apply.

What is considered full-time?
If you are taking any undergraduate courses, you need to take at least 13 hours during the term.
If you are taking graduate courses, you need to be enrolled for 9 – 12 hours, depending on how many sessions you are taking classes.

Where can I find the financial aid application?
You can locate the GIAL Financial Aid Application (along with the GIAL Financial Aid Guidelines) under the Admissions page of our website.

Who do I contact if I have more questions about Financial Aid?
Contact the Dean of Students [dean-students@gial.edu] or by phone at 972-708-7379.

I can’t find a FAFSA code for GIAL. Does GIAL have one?
No. We are not a Title IV school and so we do not qualify for federal financial aid.

Can I use Veteran Benefits to pay for my GIAL education?
Yes. We are fully certified to accept G. I. Bill Benefits.

Where should I look for other funding?
Check out the Scholarship Resources document on our website for outside scholarships that you might qualify and apply for.
For other tips on applying for scholarships, refer to www.finaidfacts.org/scholarships.htm
When do I pay tuition?
Tuition is due at registration. GIAL prefers to have payment up front for the entire term, but it is possible to set up a payment plan for an additional fee. The payment options are described on the Financial Aid Guidelines. You may choose a payment plan when notified of an award of financial aid.

Can I charge an account for my tuition?
No. Payment must be in the form of cash, check, or money order. We cannot charge a credit card or personal account.

Will GIAL be worth the cost?
