Financial Aid
The US Department of Education has designated GIAL as an eligible institution for
federal student aid (FSA). As a result, students attending GIAL may receive deferments on
FSA program loans and be eligible for the Lifetime Learning Scholarship tax credit on their federal
taxes. Although GIAL is designated an “eligible” institution, with the benefits cited
above, it is not currently certified to participate in FSA programs like direct or campus-based
loans or Federal Work-Study.
When funding is available, scholarships will be awarded in one-bimester
increments according to the criteria of the specific scholarship.
The Townsend Scholarship Fund (TSF) offers financial assistance
to students enrolled in the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics
(GIAL) on a bimester basis and is open to qualified, full-time
students who have demonstrated a commitment to a career devoted
to the Bible translation endeavor.
Students enrolled in less than four sessions during a bimester
or taking courses at an affiliated school should check with the
GIAL Dean of Students for
full-time status equivalents.
The King's Scholarship offers financial assistance to continuing
students enrolled in the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics
(GIAL) and is open to qualified students who have a financial need
which threatens their continuing as a student. Applicants must
be fully admitted and enrolled in at least three (3) hours of credit
each session and maintain a cumulative and current GPA of 3.0. Applications
are available in the Dean of Students Office.
GIAL is pleased to announce a new scholarship to be awarded each bimester.
The Tozer Scholarship assists full-time graduate students pursuing a graduate degree at GIAL,
who are intending to pursue or continue to serve in Bible translation careers. Those
interested in applying for the $500 scholarship should submit an application to the
Dean of Students Office.
