Financial Aid
When funding is available, scholarships will be awarded in one-bimester increments according to the criteria of the specific scholarship.
The Townsend Scholarship Fund (TSF) offers financial assistance
to students enrolled in the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics
(GIAL) on a bimester basis and is open to qualified, full-time
students who have demonstrated a commitment to a career devoted
to the Bible translation endeavor.
Students enrolled in less than four sessions during a bimester
or taking courses at an affiliated school should check with the
GIAL Dean of Students for
full-time status equivalents.
GIAL recognizes that many of our students are anticipating ministry careers and do not wish to incur huge amounts of debt. For various reasons, they may be coming to GIAL for training without adequate funds. The King’s Scholarship was developed in hopes of providing encouragement to those who are facing financial needs which would cause them to postpone their studies or take a lighter load. This needs based scholarship will be administered through the scholarship committee with applications submitted to the Financial Aid Administrator or designee. The scholarship will be administered without discrimination due to race, color, gender or national or ethnic origin according to GIAL’s nondiscriminatory equal opportunity policy.
GIAL is pleased to announce a new scholarship to be awarded each bimester.
The Tozer Scholarship assists full-time graduate students pursuing a graduate degree at GIAL,
who are intending to pursue or continue to serve in Bible translation careers. Those
interested in applying for the $500 scholarship should submit an application to the
Dean of Students Office.
Many scholarships are available through sources that are not related to GIAL. This document
provides a list of potential scholarships. Students are invited to investigate these
opportunities for themselves. GIAL does its best to keep this list updated, but does not
guarantee the accuracy or timeliness of the information found at any of the links. This
listing is provided for information purposes only. Inclusion does not constitute
endorsement.
The US Department of Education has designated GIAL as an eligible institution for federal student aid (FSA). As a result, students attending GIAL may receive deferments on FSA program loans and be eligible for the Lifetime Learning Scholarship tax credit on their federal taxes.
Although GIAL is designated an “eligible” institution, with the benefits cited above, it is not currently certified to participate in FSA programs like direct or campus-based loans or Federal Work-Study.
GIAL does not currently offer federal scholarships or student loans.
