This course provides a broad introduction to the discipline of
linguistics, focusing on core areas (morphology, syntax, semantics,
phonetics, phonology, sociolinguistics, and language change), for students
who plan to engage in cross-cultural work in a non-linguistic capacity.
Note: This course is not required for any of GIAL's programs, and
it does NOT apply toward GIAL's Certificate in Applied Linguistics,
but as a general introduction gives students a broad understanding
of linguistics and applied linguistics as a whole.
