(3 semester hours)
After completing this course, students will have enhanced their ability
to communicate the meaning of the biblical message to people of different
cultural backgrounds through studying the geographical, historical, and
cultural settings of the Bible. For the Old Testament period, students
will be able to describe the history and civilizations of the Ancient
Near East, and to compare the religions of the region. For the New Testament
period, students will be able to describe and discuss the development
of Second Temple Judaism and the influence of Greek and Roman cultures
on the New Testament.
