Certificate in Applied Linguistics

Students completing this program will receive the fundamentals for beginning a cross-cultural career and will be considered by SIL International to have met the minimum pre-field academic requirements for field service with that organization.

This entire certificate program, or its equivalent, is a required prerequisite for the Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics.

The undergraduate courses of the certificate program, or their equivalent, are required prerequisites for the Master of Arts in Language Development. Although this degree does not require students to take the graduate courses of the certificate program (AL5406 and AL5207), these courses are required if the student desires the Certificate.

NOTE:

  • Courses numbered '4000' are NOT transferable to GIAL's degree programs.
  • Courses numbered '5000' may be reserved for graduate credit in GIAL's degree programs.
