The Language Development Department at GIAL—what's in it for you?
A Master of Arts degree with
a major in Language Development. Graduates of this advanced
program will be qualified to serve in such roles as literacy specialist,
sociolinguist, language surveyer, Scripture Use specialist or anthropologist
(depending on the concentration selected). Concentrations include:
Though not yet a full master's concentration, the Language Development Department also offers courses for those interested in ethnic arts. At present, these courses could be included in a student crafted program.
This program consists of three components, and requires successful completion
of all three:

Prerequites for Unconditional Admission
- Graduate Admission
status
- Satisfactory completion of undergraduate courses required for the
Certificate in Applied Linguistics
(or their equivalent), defined as an average GPA of at least 3.0 for
these courses. [Note: Students who have taken
equivalent courses at another university may
petition, with proper documentation, to waive
specific certificate courses as prerequisites for
graduate studies at GIAL.]
