GIAL Convocation Celebrating Accreditation

January 26, 2006, was a very special day in the history of GIAL, as we held a formal convocation celebrating our initial accreditation with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).  Welcoming remarks were delivered by Chairman Bill Caruth, on behalf of the GIAL Board of Trustees, and Dr. David Ross delivered the Presidential address, giving some of the background of the graduate school and the significance of accreditation. US Representative Kenny Marchant was our keynote speaker. There were about 500 in attendance, including delegates from other accredited universities, most of our local mayors, and more than two dozen local dignitaries from the Best Southwest area of Dallas County. The event was held at the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, TX. Longtime friends and supporters of GIAL came from several states to share in the celebration, which included a reception with refreshments and live harp music.
