How to Select a Database

Factors:
 
Do you have a general topic and want to search for those journals or books that have articles?
Try FirstSearch first. You can limit your search to a specific formats: book, journal articles, computer files, internet resources, etc. The bonus is that you can see which libraries hold the item.
 
Are you researching in a specific subject?
Look in each database that handles that subject.
 
Do you need fulltext articles, now?
Look on those databases which offer fulltext.
 
Do you need an article from a journal or a book which GIAL does not have?
Put in an Interlibrary Loan request on WorldCat, found under the FirstSearch platform.
